India's TCS posts record profit, expects growth in financial services to continue
India's biggest software services firm, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS), expects growth in its banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) unit to remain strong in the next one to two years as it posted a record net profit, helped by a rebound in the key division.
TCS, headquartered in India's financial capital of Mumbai, beat street estimates on Tuesday as it reported a net profit of 73.40 billion rupees ($1.07 billion) in the quarter to June 30, compared with 59.45 billion rupees a year earlier.

HCL Technologies gets govternment's nod to set up SEZ in Andhra Pradesh
The commerce ministry has approved a proposal of HCL Technologies to set up a new IT special economic zone (SEZ) in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, with a proposed investment of Rs 408.48 crore.
The company's proposal was considered by an inter-ministerial Board of Approval, headed by Commerce Secretary Rita Teaotia, at its meeting on June 19.

WhatsApp rolls out ‘Forwarded’ label to fight misinformation.
Taking cognizance of the misuse of its platform for repeated circulation of provocative content, Facebook-owned WhatsApp on Tuesday rolled out “Forwarded” label to its 1.5 million monthly active users globally, including over 200 million in India.
The feature will indicate which messages you receive have been forwarded to you in the group or individually.

SoftBank Corp to buy $2 bn worth of shares held by US firm in Yahoo Japan
SoftBank Group Corp said on Tuesday that its unit SoftBank Corp would buy 221 billion yen ($2 billion) worth of shares in Yahoo Japan Corp, a 10.78 per cent stake, held by US investment firm Altaba Inc.
SoftBank will buy the shares via a tender offer at 360 yen per share, equivalent to Monday's close. Altaba, SoftBank and Yahoo Japan agree to the deal, the companies said in separate statements.

IT Sector Preview: Cross currency to affect reported dollar revenue
The IT firms under our coverage universe are expected to post a combined 0.8% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) rise in dollar revenue in the first quarter of financial year 2018-19 (Q1 FY19). Reported dollar revenue is likely to be adversely affected owing to the strengthening Dollar against major cross-currencies including euro, pound and Australian Dollar (2-4% QoQ). We expect 40-120 bps adverse impact of cross-currencies in Q1 FY19. The top-5 IT firms are likely to post -2% to +2% QoQ dollar revenue growth, with TCS likely to lead the pack.

Telecom ministry clears Idea-Vodafone merger with conditions: Govt sources
The telecom ministry (DoT) on Monday approved the merger of Vodafone India and Idea Cellular that will create the country's largest mobile services operator, an official source said. "DoT has cleared the Vodafone-Idea merger today. They will have to meet conditions for final approval,” the source told PTI.
